Welcome

Thank you for visiting! I am a full-time computer scientist with a passion for writing and photography. My enthusiasm for these art forms has lead to my words and photos being professionally published in a large variety of books and magazines.

I am especially excited to share with you the news of the release of my latest book, “Journey to Reason,” in which I share the story of how I was indoctrinated into a fundamentalist religious sect at age six, but made my escape through the wonders of science and reason.

Much of my writing focuses on science and rational skepticism. Readers looking for a full dose of my work may wish to visit my blog, Bad Science Debunked, where I’ve compiled over 100 articles taking on any and all anti-science themes I can find.

When I’m not writing or shooting photos, I enjoy astronomy (especially chasing total eclipses of the sun!), amateur radio, cycling, and traveling the world with my amazing wife, Melissa.

I am an unashamed computer geek who used to sneak into Radio Shack as a child with a notebook full of handwritten programs, using the store’s computers for free until I was kicked out. One of my proudest professional achievements is being a small part of the IDEX II team at Lockheed. The work we produced is now on display at the Smithsonean’s National Air and Space Museum. A huge fan of Artificial Intelligence, I steadfastly refuse to use it in my writing, though do find it to be an interesting tool for some of the scientific research behind some of my blogging.
